A Guilty Pleasure

I have VERY mixed feelings about this memoir. Firstly, it was riveting. The story is absolutely fascinating, vivid, and honest. Parts are painfully-relatable for anyone who suffers from depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder. The battle for control of the mind, emotions, body, environment, relationships, etc..rings true. But the book has a disturbing scream of "look at me" that seems to be the larger statement. Yes, Suzy is a victim of her illness. Yes, she grew up with tremendous pressure (much self-inflicted) to "win." But I was left with the feeling that the recent publicity explosion is just another manic chapter in a life of addictions. From the interview on 20/20, to the Dr. Phil feature, and countless articles promoting the release of the book, it is just more frenzy. Every chapter in the book is separated with 2 italicized pages of "insight" into mental illness, providing evidence that the book is intended to be something of a teaching tool. Sadly, I ended the read feeling concern for Suzy that she has traded one high for another, and continues to sacrifice her family in the process. Truly, a guilty pleasure.

Great story, terrible ending omissions.

As someone who went for decades as an undiagnosed bi-polar person this book looked to be very interesting. And indeed it is interesting. However, after getting to the point where she gets diagnosed as bi-polar, she pretty much glosses over that and her recovery in a matter of pages. One would think if she was really trying to help people, there would be some serious focus on the diagnosis and recovery time period. She does intersperse each chapter with a short bit on mental ilness facts and statistics and statements, but there was nowhere near enough of the book dedicated to one of the most important parts of dealing with a mental illness - and that is the long process of finding the right meds, right therapy, right outlets, etc... So that was quite disappointing. I couldn't put the book down as it was a fascinating yarn, but as I saw the end of the book coming with over 94% read but zero on her recovery and diagnosis, started becoming less and less of a great book. Two and a half stars if possible would be given. Cheers!

All I got out of the book was disgust with her as a wife & mother

I take offense with someone who uses mental illness as an excuse for immoral choices. I suffer from bipolar with hypersexuality. It can takes years of therapy & medication to deal with the shame & confusion. Suzy has none. All I got out of the book was disgust with her as a wife & mother.

This is absolutely amazing, a must read if you are called to the prophetic ministry. The fear of the Lord is an absolute fruit of this book, that is if you're allowing the Holy spirit to speak to your heart as you read...I think i will be reading this book many times more..Praise be to God for such inspirations!

I watched Jennifer LeClaire on Sid Roth. She was so humble and so sincere -- she talks straight into your heart. I read Developing Faith for the Working of Miracles, and learned so much that I purchased A Prophet's Heart. I'm going to read every book she's written -- she teaches the Word in a simple way. I appreciate her writing, and I appreciate all she's doing for the Kingdom.

It’s a clever way to translate the need for sustainability to children, who can all relate to sniffles, coughs, and the fever. Earth is personified as a woman wearing a red muffler, cap, and flowered dress, who becomes increasingly ill: her coughs are like earthquake tremors; her fever produces warmer oceans; her sneezes produce tsunamis. The double-page illustrations contrast Earth (whose dress gets sootier as she gets sicker) with gray landscapes of smoke-belching pipes, corrugated cars, and a few brave flowers. Finally, a hero appears, a little boy who insists we give Earth the rest she needs. The final double-page spread nicely illustrates the book’s message with full-bloom color and an inspiring coda: “It’s never too late to start all over again.” A more sober successor to the environmental plea of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. Only So-so

The Earth has caught a cold, and its humanity's fault. One little boy decides to call attention to the problem, and help heal his home.

The illustrations are beautiful, the subject important, and the concept intriguing -- and yet, this book falls short on execution. Part of the problem is that the allegory is a tad too rich for little kids, and the other part is that the allegory is itself confusing. A fever is global warming, and huge waves are tsumanis -- both arguably affected by man. But other "symptoms" like her earthquake coughs and volcanic throw-ups have nothing to do with human action.

My daughter is very interested in things like pollution, trash, recycling, earthquakes, and volcanoes, yet this book fell flat for her -- and for me, too. But it is probably at least in part a stylist thing -- this book might go over well with people who like a flowery style of prose.

The answers to how he will accomplish this are described, suggested, and beautifully illustrated in the lovely paintings and pages of "The Earth Has Caught A Cold." Its final message of empowerment comes at the end, with a rainbow painted across the sky, and the realization that "It's never too late to start all over again." "The Earth Has Caught A Cold" is written to entice and enchant children ages 4-7.

Kid Review: Thoughts from a 3rd Grader

This is a good book for people to read when they are sick. They can relate. People from ages 1 through 102 will like this book. "Shhh" is a good thing to say to sick people because it will calm them down. It calmed the people down so they could hear what the earth needed. I like this book and want to make a poster out of this book. You will love it too!!! From, Brennan age 8

A simple and effective method of building referrals.

No matter what business you are in, if a large percentage of your leads are not coming from referrals, you're missing a very important aspect of generating new business. In their book THE REFERRAL CODE, authors Larry Pinci and Phil Glosserman will show you how to carry exactly what the sub-title suggests; how to UNLOCK A CONSTANT STREAM OF BUSINESS THROUGH THE POWER OF YOUR RELATIONSHIPS.

If you've read Pinci & Glosserman's earlier book, Sell the Feeling, then you know this book is well worth reading. This is a business allegory and is a continuation of sorts of the allegory told in their earlier book. Neil, the main subject in Sell the Feeling, is now married to a young woman named Jennifer. When Jennifer finds herself under the supervision of a new sales manager that is a big advocate of cold calling and has set almost untenable benchmarks, Neil suggests she turn to his old mentor, Sam for guidance.

In the story that follows, Sam takes Jennifer under his wing and over the next few weeks, lays out a plan for generating new business that he calls the referral code. Pinci and Glosserman do a superb job of covering every detail you need to know to put the referral code to work for you no matter what business you are in. I am convinced if you follow what is outlined here, you will generate more referrals than you have ever had.

That's what the referral code is. It's a formula that when carried out step by step, will produce the results you are looking for.

More and more today, we are finding books offering additional on-line information and tools, only most of the time that additional information doesn't amount to much. I've had a chance to look this over the free additional online information here can be put to work immediately to help you implement your own referral code. I really enjoyed reading the free download; `What Every Business Person Needs to Know About Making and Maintaining Agreements". If you manage a sales staff, you will find very useful information here.

I've read a few other books about building referrals and they've all been helpful, but The Referral Code outlined by Pinci & Glosserman is the simplest and makes the most sense. This is a common sense approach to putting the power of networking to work for you. I highly recommend this book.

I just finished Phil and Larry's Referral Code and loved it. It is a quick read and loaded with so many great ideas, many of which are just a common sense way of looking at asking for referrals. I can't wait to start using their systems as I know it will increase my referral business substantially. The best part of the book was hearing when is the best time to ask for referrals as we all have passively asking for a referrals at the wrong time. Great job guys as the story telling is the best way to convey the message. I just ordered 10 copies to give to people. I am 100% confident this book if used correctly is worth its weight in gold.
